I love simple methods of saving money and reducing my monthly expenses. A great way of saving money to get a reduced rate on insurance. I'm not talking about switching insurance companies rather describing an accident prevention course to reduce your insurance cost.
You can save 10% on your car insurance
In many states it is mandatory that insurance companies give 10% off to drivers that have completed a DMV approved safety class. In the past people have actually go to a driving class and hear a boring lecture. Now you can actually register for a cheap class online and save on your insurance.
I found that the cost of class was made up in only a few months. You can view the providers for your state on your states DMV website. I actually found a class for a total of only $20!
The class I found was offered by the American Safety Council. I used coupon code "NYMerchant" to save $5 dollars off the $25 fee for the NY class. There site is newyorksafetycouncil.com for their New York Class.
The course was very simple and easy. You can take the class whenever and wherever and have 30 days to complete the class.
Important thing to note
Some states charge a DVM reporting fee to the class providers to process paperwork. I found some class providers will actually pass this cost onto people but not include it in the course cost. Read the fine print carefully when pay and signup for a class. The class I took ( did not require any type of extra fee or hidden cost.
Also, search for promo or coupon codes to save money for the classes.
